Who is NextEra Energy?
We’re investing in energy that’s not just the most reliable or the cleanest, but also the most affordable.
As one of the largest rate-regulated electric utilities in the country, NextEra Energy has approximately 51.5 gigawatts of electricity generation capacity across North America. As the world’s leader in renewable energy from the wind and sun, we are committed to innovative approaches that transform energy generation into a cleaner, more efficient process to provide greater customer value.
NextEra Energy is among America’s largest capital investors in infrastructure and is the largest utility company in the world by market capitalization. We have operations or development projects in 48 U.S. states and Canada.
NextEra Energy owns Florida Power & Light Company, which is the largest rate-regulated electric utility in the United States as measured by retail electricity produced and sold, and serves more than 5.6 million customer accounts, supporting more than 11 million residents across Florida with clean, reliable and affordable electricity.
NextEra Energy also owns a competitive energy business, NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, which together with its affiliates is the world’s largest generator of renewable energy from the wind and sun, and a world leader in battery storage.
Our strong businesses are supported by a common platform, enabling us to leverage our industry-leading skills and capabilities to drive growth. By investing in smart infrastructure and innovative clean energy solutions, we are helping build a sustainable energy future that is affordable, efficient and clean, while creating thousands of jobs and generating economic benefits for the communities we serve.
Our strategy is executed by the best team in our industry, a team that is continuing to build a diverse and inclusive culture. We believe that diverse teams deliver superior business results, partly because they can better appreciate the needs of the communities we serve, but mostly because they challenge old ways of doing things and generate innovative solutions to our energy challenges.
Our values underpin everything we do and inspire us every day. We are committed to excellence; we do the right thing; we treat people with respect.

The Right Fit for South Carolina
From Spanish moss adorning old-growth trees in the Lowcountry, to the state’s beautiful lakes and the Upstate’s mountains, South Carolina’s landscapes are as diverse at its people and cultures. After talking with people here and discovering all we could about the Palmetto State, we truly appreciate and understand just how much South Carolinians value their natural resources, neighbors, communities and businesses. And, those are many of the reasons we are a perfect fit, not just for South Carolina, but also as the ideal partner that can revitalize Santee Cooper.
That’s because NextEra Energy is a company that’s consistently recognized as one that values the environment and one that believes in people and giving back to communities. And, in South Carolina, we see plenty of opportunities for success and growth. Our track record of keeping rates low while still being able to invest in areas like infrastructure, renewable energy and storm response is a testament to our drive to serving customers over profiting from them. We would be proud to help transform South Carolina’s energy future.
